In today’s world economy, China is the largest market for trenchless technology and pipelines, with huge gas and oil transmission pipeline projects, 100,000 km of new municipal pipelines installed each year, and 300,000 km of municipal pipelines urgently needing rehabilitation. There are more and more related international organizations and companies venturing into, not just the China, but all of eastern Asian pipeline and trenchless technology markets. Based on this background and the request by China-U.S. Joint Center for Trenchless R&D (CTRD), CUG, and Center for Underground Infrastructure Research & Education (CUIRE), UT ARLINGTON, ASCE cosponsored the first International Conference on Pipeline and Trenchless Technology (ICPTT 2009) held on October 19 through 21, 2009 in Shanghai, China and the second International Conference on Pipeline and Trenchless Technology (ICPTT 2011) on October 26 through 29, 2011 in Beijing, China. Both ICPTT 2009 and ICPTT 2011 were a huge success thanks in large part to the ASCE Pipeline Division.

The organizers would now like to make ICPTT 2012 on October 19 through 22 in Wuhan China. ASCE will publish the conference proceedings, which will be provided on CD-ROM. The qualified papers will be recommended to be published in the ASCE journal: 《Journal of Pipeline Systems Engineering and Practice》.

Success of ICPTT 2011

China-U.S. Joint Center for Trenchless R&D (CTRD), American Society of Civil Engineers-Pipeline Division, Center for Underground Infrastructure Research & Education (CUIRE)-UTA, Geo-Technical Engineering Research Center, China Ministry of Education,and China University of Geosciences(Beijing) co-sponsor the International Conference on Pipelines and Trenchless Technology 2011 (ICPTT 2011), which will be held on October 26 through 29, 2011 at China National Convention Center, Beijing. With the success of the ICPTT 2009, the organizer expects that ICPTT 2011 willl draw more than 500 participants, and more than 1000 visitors will attend the conference.
